The ABCs of Christ-Centered Relationships

May 9, 2023

People are often fascinated by the journey of discovering individual identity. At some point in your life, you’ve probably taken a personality test, figured out your astrological sign, or taken an online quiz to figure out what flavor of Doritos you are. All of these try to tell us who we are and where we belong in the world.

A - Anchor Your Relationship in Prayer

Prayer is the foundation of a Christ-centered relationship. When you pray together, you invite God into the relationship, seeking His guidance and wisdom. Regularly pray for each other, asking God to strengthen your bond and help you grow in faith. Prayer unites hearts and keeps the focus on God’s will.

B - Build Each Other Up

In a Christ-centered relationship, it’s important to encourage and uplift one another. Speak words of affirmation, kindness, and love. Be a source of support and encouragement, helping each other to grow in faith and character. Remember, love is patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4), and we are called to build each other up, not tear each other down.

C - Commit to God’s Word

God’s Word should be the guide for every relationship. Study the Bible together, and let its teachings shape your interactions and decisions. A commitment to God’s Word provides a solid foundation and helps you navigate challenges with wisdom and grace. The Bible is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

Christ-centered relationships are a source of joy, strength, and growth. By anchoring your relationship in prayer, building each other up, and committing to God’s Word, you can create a bond that is not only strong but also glorifies God. Let Christ be the center, and watch your relationships flourish in His love.
